Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and AKP, whose dream to become Super President and come to the power alone came to naught on June 7 election, are now targeting the cemeteries of guerrillas as part of the total war they have started against the peoples.
A “confidential” instruction signed by Turkish Minister of Interior Sebahattin Öztürk and sent to the governors of Kurdish cities orders the destruction of 14 cemeteries of Kurdish guerrillas.
The instruction orders "destruction of terrorist organization's cemeteries and outbuildings in a detailed operation, and information of Gendarmerie General Command". The cities where operations are asked to be conducted are listed as Ağrı, Bitlis, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Siirt, Şırnak and Dersim.
Commenting on the instruction for the "destruction of martyrs' cemeteries", HDP deputies Edibe Şahin and Faysal Sarıyıldız warned that any intervention on cemeteries, one of the sacred places of the society, would mean touching the nerve pathway of the society.
'CEMETERY IN DERSİM HOUSES THE SOCIETY'S MEMORY'
Edibe Şahin- HDP deputy for Dersim- one of the cities mentioned in the instruction, stressed that respect for ded bodies and cemeteries ranked among the values of every folk, noting that this sensitivity was much higher among the Kurdish society.
Recalling that besides guerrillas, those massacred in 1938 Dersim genocide were also buried in the cemetery in Dersim, Şahin said; "It is sort of a place housing the memory of the society."
Şahin warned that an intervention in cemeteries would mean touching the nerve pathway of the society, adding; "People want to get respect for their lives and lead a democratic life by a recognition of their diversities.
'INTERVENTION ON CEMETERIES WOULD BE A MADNESS'
HDP Şırnak Deputy Faysal Sarıyıldız said such an intervention would be a madness, and pointed to the Kurdish people's sensitivity on cemeteries of guerrillas. "Those buried in those cemeteries are the children of this people", he underlined.
Reminding of the global principles on the inviolability of cemeteries even in the cases of war, Sarıyıldız said; "An intervention on cemeteries of guerrillas would get things out of control and incite a process that nobody can avert. This idea must be abandoned immediately, no matter whom it was proposed by. We hope they will not do such a thing which would otherwise pave the way for a great disaster."
