Iranian security forces have arrested three more Kurdish activists in Kamyaran, Kurdistan province, in the past two days for attending executed Kurdish political prisoner Heydar Ghorbani’s funeral, reported the Kurdistan Human Rights Network on Friday.
Mohammad Mirza Rahmani, who is a Sunni cleric, was detained on 22 December after being summoned to the office of the Ministry of Intelligence in Kamyaran.
Civil rights activists Sirvan Ghorbani and Borhan Kamangar were detained on the streets of the city on 23 December.
The three activists were taken to an undisclosed location.
Earlier on 21 December, the Iranian intelligence ministry had detained Amanj Ghorbani, a Kurdish environmental activist, in Kamyaran for similar reasons.
The intelligence ministry stated that the reason for the detentions was the activists’ participation and speeches in Heydar Ghorbani’s funeral.
