Iranian regime also resorts to trustees

The Iranian state has adapted the Turkish state’s practice of appointing trustees to municipalities in Kurdish cities. In Rojhilat, some elected members of city councils were removed from duty and replaced with people loyal to the Itlaat like trustees.

As the Turkish state appointed trustees in the place of dozens of mayors elected with the popular vote in Northern Kurdistan, the Iranian Islamic regime is now resorting to trustee policies.

According to a report by the Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhilat) Human Rights Organization, the Iranian regime has appointed a man known for his close ties with the Iranian intelligence agency Itlaat as a trustee in the place of elected city councillor Welîule Rustemî in the Xorem Awa city in Rojhilat’s Loristan state.

Welîule Rustemî had come first in the city council elections, but was removed from duty and replaced by Seyid Hurmetula Mûsewî, known for his close ties with the Itlaat.

Meanwhile, there are reports that other Kurdish councillors are replaced with trustees in other cities of Rojhilat (Eastern) Kurdistan.
