According to the villagers, Kamuran Fırat (24) was on the Turkish side of the river that defines the border between Iran and Turkey yesterday in the evening hours when he was shot at by Iranian soldiers. Fırat was seriously wounded by a bullet to his back and was taken to the Yüksekova Public Hospital by the villagers’ efforts.

Despite all medical intervention, Fırat could not be saved and lost his life. His relatives gathered in the hospital’s front yard and stated that Fırat was murdered by Iranian soldiers even though he did not cross the border.

Kamuran Fırat’s funeral will be held today.
