It has been reported that seven ISIS mercenaries were captured in the large-scale operation carried out by the Iraqi national security office in Kirkuk.
In a written statement, the Iraqi national security office said that a large-scale operation was carried out against ISIS mercenaries in Kirkuk city center and the southern countryside of the city.
The statement said that seven ISIS mercenaries were captured in the simultaneous operation carried out by the national security organization. It is understood that the seven provided logistical support to ISIS.
In June 2014, ISIS captured the entire Mosul, Salahaddin and Anbar provinces, as well as some of the Diyala and Kirkuk provinces. These areas were recaptured from the mercenaries over the years.
Despite the fact that more than 4 years have passed since ISIS was driven out of the region and the cities were recaptured, the mercenaries' attacks in the rural areas of Kirkuk, Diyala, Mosul, Salahaddin and Anbar provinces continue.
