KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Member Murat Karayılan has sent a message to the 15th General Meeting of Kurdistan National Congress (KNK, Kongreya Neteweyî a Kürdistanê ) taking place in the Belgium capital Brussels.
The General Meeting which started yesterday will last three days with the participation of 44 parties and organizations affiliated to KNK as well as hundreds of members, observer parties and institutions, and non-oberver parties which include YNK and Goran but not KDP which doesn't attend the congress although was invited.
A delegation representing the cantons of Rojava, West Kurdistan, is also attending the General Meeting where participants hold speeches in 4 dialects of the Kurdish language.
The General Meeting will end with the re-election of co-presidency, executive council and council board of the KNK on September 27.
In his message to the General Meeting, KCK Executive Council Member Murat Karayılan pointed to the historic and significant process the Kurdish people are going through, which -he said- will witness the founding of Free Kurdistan and therefore requires a unity stronger than ever.
Extending thanks to the Preparatory Committee and KNK members for deeming him worthy of KNK membership, Karayılan pledged to remain loyal to the principles of Democratic National Unity within the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, and to struggle with all his power for a free, democratic and successful Kurdistan.
CALL FOR UNITY
Drawing attention to the historic phase the Middle East and Kurdistan territory is currently going through, Karayılan recalled that the resistance of the people in Başur (South) and Rojava (West) Kurdistan against ISIS gangs created by the concepts of deep colonialist forces has made an overwhelming impression all around the world.
"Accomplishment of the Rojava Revolution and the 7 June election victory in North Kurdistan has driven our enemies mad who therefore started a general assault and war against the Kurdish people and struggle. Our people in North Kurdistan have initiated a new process against the Turkish state and AKP government's occupation policies. Especially the declaration of self-rule in North Kurdistan has become the beginning of a new phase in Kurdistan Freedom Struggle. This phase is the process of major accomplishments and founding Free Kurdistan. Against the attacks of the enemy, resistance of Leader Apo [referring to Abdullah Öcalan] in İmralı, resistance of our people in cities and resistance of guerrillas in Kurdistan mountains, is growing. The progress in North Kurdistan is for the freedom of not only one part but the freedom of all Kurds. This progress does also have a significant role for the achievement of democratization in Turkey and the Middle East region. I believe the valuable members of the congress will discuss this subject and make decisions of importance."
‘KNK SHOULD PLAY ITS ROLE FOR UNITY'
Remarking that Kurds were going through a process that required unity and solidarity stronger than ever, Karayılan said he believed KNK would play its role and accomplish an important mission for the accomplishment of the Kurdish people's progress and fulfillment of national unity.
