Kartal: Time for Öcalan's freedom and revolution in Northern Kurdistan

KONGRA GEL Co-President Remzi Kartal said their aim was to remind the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and CPT of the words they gave in the past, and to mobilize them to fulfill their promises and play their roles on this matter.

The five-day hunger strike in front of the Council of Europe for Öcalan's freedom, has ended.

Speaking to ANF about the hunger strike, KONGRA GEL Co-President Remzi Kartal called for action regarding the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the war in Kurdistan.

'WE AIM TO MOBILIZE CONCERNED INSTITUTIONS'

Kartal pointed to Kurdish leader's role for the achievement of peace, and remarked that the primary goal of the Freedom for Öcalan Initiative was to call for action from international public opinion and institutions regarding the İmralı isolation and the war in Kurdistan.

Describing the isolation of Öcalan as a part of the total war waged against the Kurdish people, Kartal said their aim was to remind the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and CPT of the words they gave in the past, and to mobilize them to fulfill their promises and play their roles on this matter.

'ERDOĞAN DIDN'T RUN THE PROCESS WITH AN INTENTION FOR PEACE'

Calling attention to the heavy war being conducted in Kurdistan, and Öcalan's role for the ending of this war and attainment of peace, Kartal emphasized that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan didn't run the process of talks with an intention for peace.

KONGRA GEL Co-President underlined that Erdoğan took no steps serving the process as he used it as a means in accordance with his own political interests and create a public opinion in favour of himself, in spite of which the process had a beneficial effect on HDP more than Erdoğan himself and the AKP.

Recalling that the Dolmabahçe Agreement had brought the process to a certain point, Kartal said Erdoğan disregarded the process because he didn't want a solution to enable an advancement, and insisted on establishing his own hegemony.

'KURDS THE ONLY FORCE TO STOP ERDOĞAN'

Defining the Kurdish question as the major problem in the Middle East, which became the primary agenda in the international arena in the wake of the Rojava Revolution, Kartal said the whole world was now aware of the fascist dictator system Erdoğan wanted to create, and pointed to the Kurdish movement as the single force that could stop Erdoğan.

'KURDS IN EUROPE HAVE A STRATEGIC POSITION FOR ÖCALAN'S FREEDOM'

Stressing that the Kurdish people living in Europe have a quite strategic position with regards to Öcalan's freedom, Kartal said; "European states and Turkey have relations based on economic self interests. If we mobilize the public opinion of these states and perform works to influence them, this will force these states to establish relations based on not self interests but peace and equality."

Kartal called upon the Kurdish people living in Europe and their friends to perform influential actions everywhere they are.

'TIME FOR FREEDOM AND REVOLUTION'

KONGRA GEL Co-President Remzi Kartal ended his statement with the following message; "It is time for Leader Apo's freedom, solution of the Kurdish question and revolution in Northern Kurdistan in the same way the Rojava Revolution was realized."
