Nusaybin Municipality Co-Mayor Sara Kaya spoke after the YPS declared they withdrew their forces from Nusaybin and called on everybody to be “conscious of a possible civilian massacre.”
YPS/YPS-JIN declared they have withdrawn their forces in Nusaybin after a months-long resistance today, and warned that any attacks will directly be a massacre on the civilian population.
Nusaybin Co-Mayor Sara Kaya spoke to the ANF following the YPS declaration and said thousands of civilians have been resisting for months, not leaving their homes and called on everybody to protect Nusaybin against a possible civilian massacre.
“FROM THIS POINT ON, ALL ATTACKS ARE ATTACKS ON CIVILIANS”
Kaya said there were Nusaybin residents who had to leave their homes when the attacks and the “curfews” started, but a significant number of civilians stayed in their homes and did not leave Nusaybin.
Kaya said the Devrim, 8 Mart, Yeşilkent, Barış, Selahattin Eyyubi and Yeni Turan neighborhoods had dense civilian populations still and added that there are civilians in Girnavas neighborhood on İpekyolu as well. Kaya said they estimated a civilian population of 50.000 in Nusaybin’s neighborhoods right now, and pointing out the withdrawal of YPS forces, stated that all attacks from this point on will be attacks on civilians.
Kaya expressed that the Turkish state forces randomly bombed Nusaybin with heavy weapons, tanks, artilleries and fighter jets and that the lives of civilians were in grave danger.

Nusaybin Co-mayor Sara Kaya stated that around 9 thousand houses were demolished by the state forces, that the state forces bombed and demolished the central district and the neighborhoods with no ditches, and looted the shops.
