Reports are coming through of increasing military activity by the KDP amid allegations that its forces are trying to take some regions in Metina under control.
Armed forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) have deployed armored vehicles and ambulances to the Metina region in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
According to reports, the military activity is aimed at taking some regions between the areas of Kela Qumriyê and Qaşûra under control.
KDP forces had previously attempted to seize Qumriyê and some other nearby locations on the Qaşûra line where guerrilla forces put up great resistance against the Turkish occupying forces last year.
As an act of support for the Turkish state, the KDP had been involved in provocations in the same area before in an attempt to restrict the areas used by HPG guerrillas, as in the cases of Zînê Wertê and Xelîfan incidents.
Guerrilla forces manifested a stance serving the spirit of national unity in order to avoid a conflict among Kurdish forces.
Reports say that the KDP decided to conduct a military build-up in the region during a meeting held in Kanimasi subdistrict a few days before Newroz, March 21.
