The Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) that launched an invasion attempt against Southern Kurdistan following the referendum of September 25 have been reportedly active in Shengal as well as Kirkuk.
Sources say the Hashd al-Shaabi forces met with KDP’s Qasim Shesho responsible for Peshmerga forces in Siba Şêx Xidir and Til Qeser in Shengal and asked them to leave their positions in the region.
There has been no conflict yet in the region in question while reports say Qasim Shesho has fled the area. But the Peshmerga forces are still in the area.
KDP’s Qasim Shesho, responsible for the Peshmerga in Shengal, had fled to Zakho over Rojava during the ISIS attack on Shengal on August 3, 2014 and abandoned the people to face the massacre.
