KDP sets up a new checkpoint in Bamerne

KDP forces have set up a new checkpoint in the area of Banke in the Bamerne village in Amadiya.

Local sources report that forces of the South Kurdistan’s ruling party KDP have deployed a large military force to the Bamerne village in the Amadiya town on November 25.

In parallel, a new checkpoint has been set up by the KDP’s forces in the nearby area of Banke.

Sources closely monitoring the developments in the region state that the new checkpoints aim to enable a safe access for the “occupiers” into the Shengal (Sinjar) region.

The village of Bamerne already houses a Turkish base since early 90’s. The occupant Turkish state uses this base as a logistical and reinforcement site with the KDP’s approval. Tanks and hummers are deployed here, as well as mortars and howitzers of different sizes.

The latest military deployment of the KDP comes amid the Iraqi central government’s dispatchment of thousands of troops and special police force to Shengal.

The agreement concluded between the KDP and the Baghdad government on Shengal on November 9 was followed by the deployment of troops and heavy weaponry to the region on November 24. At least eight thousand soldiers were moved to the Shengal region within two days, according to reports from the ground.

Despite the reactions and calls arising from four parts of Kurdistan, the Kurds all around Europe and beyond, the KDP’s military activity against guerrilla areas and Shengal continue increasingly.
