KDP withdraws from Germian as well

KDP’s peshmerga forces have withdrawn from the Germian region after withdrawing from Kirkuk, Makmur and Shengal.

KDP’s maneuvers to gift Southern Kurdistan territories to Hashd al-Shaabi forces continue.

KDP forces turned over their positions in Kirkuk to the Hashd al-Shaabi yesterday, and Makmur and Shengal late at night. Today, they have withdrawn from Germian as well.

KDP has reportedly turned over their positions in the Germian region, namely Khanaqin and its vicinity, to the Hashd al-Shaabi without clashes.

WHERE IS GERMIAN?

The Germian region is in Sulaymaniyah, and is one of the largest regions of Bashurê (Southern) Kurdistan.

Germian has borders to Iran and Iraq. The surrounding provinces and districts are: Kelar, Chamcamal, Tuz Khurmatu, Kirkuk, Kifri and Perwisxan.

The population is 800.000, but gets close to 1 million. Germian is 185 km from Sulaymaniyah.
