The birthday of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan was celebrated by planting saplings in a garden in the Rehîmava neighborhood of Kirkuk.
Saplings were planted in a garden in the Rehîmava neighborhood in Kirkuk during the celebration event to mark the 73rd birthday of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan. The event was organized by the Southern Kurdistan Women's Movement (Rêxistina Jinên Azadîxwaz a Kurdistanê-RJAK).
The event started with a minute's silence held in memory of the Kurdish Freedom Martyrs.
Then RJAK activists read the 4 April statement. The women stated that Abdullah Öcalan's birthday marked a new beginning for the Kurdish people and added: “4 April represents free life for Kurdish women. It is a symbol of patriotism. As RJAK, we promise that we will break the isolation on Rêber Öcalan and continue our resistance until he regains his freedom.
After the statement, Tevgera Azadî Assembly member Omer Haci Hisên said that the “birthday of Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] is the birth of a new will for the Middle East and other oppressed peoples."
Activists then went to Rehîmava garden and planted saplings there.
