Having issued a call to all political parties in Kurdistan on June 12 in a press statement held in Sulaymaniyah for a joint platform to reinstate efforts for a national congress, a delegation from the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) met with the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Hewlêr.
KNK Deputy Co-chair Tahir Kemelizade, KNK Council Members Perwin Eziz and Farûk Cemîl, KNK members Şikrullah Emîn, Yusif Kerkûkî and Ferhat Doski were in the KNK delegation and they met with DTK Council Member Mülkiye Birtane, DBP Deputy Co-chair Emine Özmen, HDP MPs İbrahim Ayhan and İmam Taşçıer and HDP Southern Kurdistan representative Abit İke in the DBP Southern Kurdistan Representation Office.
"KURDISH ISSUE CAN BE SOLVED THROUGH NATIONAL UNITY"
DTK Council Member Mülkiye Birtane, who was also part of the preparations committee for the Kurdish National Congress efforts in 2013, said they are giving full support for the unity efforts as the HDP and the DTK. Birtane said: "We are prepared to do whatever we can. We are also prepared to fulfill our duty through personal involvement as well. All parties and forces that strive for democracy and freedom should participate in these efforts."
Birtane stated that the Kurdish issue can reach a solution in all parts of Kurdistan through national unity alone and added: "All Kurdish parties and forces should be aware of this fact. The duty that we all have is to take part in these efforts. This is the most fundamental wish for all of us. We thank the KNK once more for these sacred efforts."
"OUR NATIONAL UNITY IS NOT AGAINST ANYONE"
KNK Deputy Co-chair Tahir Kemelizade spoke after Birtane and thanked the DTK and HDP committees for their support for the national unity efforts. Kemelizade stated that the Kurdish national unity is not against any peoples or states in the region and said: "We are only after our own rights. Us achieving our rights will not take anything away from anybody, on the contrary, it will add to a meaningful common life."
KNK VISITS
The KNK delegation has met with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan(PUK), the Gorran (Change) Movement, the Komala Islamic Party, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), the Kurdistan Workers Party (Hizbî Zehmetkêşan), the Yekgirtu Islamic Party, the Kurdistan Communist Party, the Bizûtneweyî İslami, the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), the People of Kurdistan Democratic Movement (Bizûtneweyî Demokrasi Gelê Kurdistan), the Kurdistan Democratic National Unity Party (Yekîtiya Neteweyî Demokratik a Kurdistan–YNDK), Tevgera Azadi, the Iranian Kurdistan Revolutionary and Workers Party - Komala, the Iran Communist Party - Komala and Eastern Kurdistan Democratic Society Congress (KODAR).
KNK has completed their meetings with the parties in Southern Kurdistan and will meet with parties in Rojhilat, Bakûr and Rojava and has announced that they will kick off discussions on national unity with a platform of 350 to 400 delegates by mid-July.
