Kobanê Democratic Autonomous Administration has organised a celebration to mark the first anniversary of liberation of the town from ISIS.

The celebration event is taking place at the Newroz Square on the symbolic Mishtenûr Hill. Thousands from Kobanê Canton have started to flock to the area as of early morning hours. Representatives of institutions from Gire Spi are also joining the event.

The event began with a military ceremony by combatants of YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units), which was followed by YPJ commander Rehîme Kobanê's opening speech.

Speeches on behalf of the Kobanê Democratic Autonomous Administration and Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) will also be made. Security in the area is ensured by Asayish (public security) forces.
