KODAR calls for solidarity with earthquake victims in Khoy

The Democratic and Free East Kurdistan Community (KODAR) called for solidarity with the victims of the earthquake in the city of Khoy, northwest Iran.

The Democratic and Free East Kurdistan Community (KODAR) called for support for the people of Iran and East Kurdistan who were struck by the earthquake that took place last Saturday in the city of Khoy.

In a statement on Tuesday, KODAR said: “We offer our condolences to the families who lost their relatives in the earthquake and wish the injured a quick recovery.

An earthquake occurred in the city of Khoy at a time when the winter season brings extreme cold. This situation has turned into a serious crisis as the cities of Khoy and Urmia were not supported by the authorities. People can no longer be able to meet their basic needs. The government does not help the victims of the earthquake nor release reliable information on the subject. The people of Iran and East Kurdistan need strong assistance to heal the wounds of the earthquake victims.

Our people in Iran and East Kurdistan have always promoted cooperation to tackle earthquakes and floods due to their patriotic sentiments. Our people must also now provide the necessary support and help to our people who have been affected by the earthquake in the city of Khoy. Our people must mobilize for the city. All activists and non-governmental organizations in East Kurdistan and Azerbaijan should establish crisis centres and help the people of Khoy immediately.

We call on the public, activists and all our people to help the victims of the Khoy earthquake. It is a moral and humanitarian duty to help our people who have become the victims of the earthquake.”
