Kurdish intellectuals: History won’t forgive those preventing Kurdish unity

160 Kurdish intellectuals and writers said, “Let's not remain silent against the brutal occupation,” adding that “Whoever prevents Kurdish unity, history will not forgive them.”

The Kurdish Literature Association made a press statement about the developments in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). Ahmet Kanî, the director of the Kurdish Literature Association, read out the statement signed by 160 intellectuals at a meeting attended by the writers. Kanî stated that the Kurdish people played a leading role in the advancement of societies and humanity in history. He recalled that the Kurds have resisted and struggled with strong will and faith for centuries for their honour and existence, adding that many successes have been achieved as a result of this struggle.

“The sovereign powers and the invaders have always attempted to eliminate the Kurds. During their attacks, the invaders took advantage of the disintegration of the Kurds mostly. If the Kurds had unity, they would have already succeeded. History will not forgive those people who prevent Kurdish unity for the sake of their individual, family and organizational interests,” he said.

'KURDS SHOULD UNITE AND FIND A WAY'

“As is known, the invading state has recently increased its attacks on South Kurdistan and Rojava. As intellectuals and writers in four parts of Kurdistan, we publicly call on: All institutions, organizations, parties, organizations, families and all Kurds should come to the table and find a way to frustrate the attacks. No one should be an obstacle to the unity of the Kurds any longer. Those who resist Kurdish unity will be responsible in history in every respect. Rather than being hostile to each other, the Kurds should fight against occupation and the Kurdish genocide. Let's manifest our stance against occupation and not remain silent against the brutal occupation,” he said.

Kani condemned all the hostile attacks on the Kurds, concluding, “It is time to get united. The Kurdish people will resist with the spirit of unity until the very end. They will increase their struggle in every field and will succeed.”
