The Gorran (Change) Movement and the Komela Îslami parties attended the session as a group and the PUK attended with 6 MPs. The session was chaired by Parliamentary President Dr. Yusuf Mihemed and KDP Co-chair Cafer Heminki.
The Kurdistan Regional Parliament has 111 seats, and 68 MPs attended the extraordinary session with the referendum on the agenda. 65 MPs voted yes and 3 MPs abstained, and the referendum proposal was thus approved.
KDP has 38 seats in the Southern Kurdistan Parliament, Gorran has 24, PUK has 18, Yekgirtû Islami 10 and Komeleya Islami has 6. Other seats belong to minorities due to the quota practice.
