Latest situation in Shengal: Fighting ceases partially

Shengal people responding to the attacks did not want the treatment of wounded assailants of the KDP, some of whom were therewith taken to Turkey hospitals as clashes have ceased partially.

Clashes have erupted this morning after a so-called Rojava-Peshmerga group affiliated to the KDP of South Kurdistan forcibly attempted to enter the areas held by Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) in Xanesor town of Shengal.

The outside group brought to Shengal for a battle involves Muslim peshmergas that had fled Shengal during the ISIS attack and the following massacre of August, 2014.

People of Shengal responded to the attack by KDP groups whom they tried to block and stop everywhere. The KDP-affiliated Êzidî peshmergas fighting in Shengal also opposed the aggression.

As clashes have ceased partially, people blocked the ways to hospitals in Sinune town to not allow the treatment of wounded members of the armed group.

Locals and opinion leaders also feel uncomfortable with the situation, which forced the group to de-escalate the aggression.

Reports suggest that some members of the group who sustained injuries during the battle have been sent to Turkey for treatment.
