As the Operation to Liberate Shengal is going on uninterruptedly in its second day, local groups from the Êzîdî community living on Mount Shengal are also taking up arms and joining the battle in the ranks of YBŞ (Shengal Resistance Forces).
The Êzîdî civilians joining the operation told that; “We will rescue all our kidnapped girls still held by ISIS and take revenge from the gangs that made us suffer all these pains for over a year now. We will get the revenge of our mothers and sisters.”
YBŞ fighter Ruhat Şengal who is assisting the newly participating Êzîdîs said; “We are providing here the ammunition need of the people who are joining the battle for self-defense. They later join the operation alongside our comrades in Shengal town centre.”
