The strong 6.1 earthquake that hit the East Kurdistan province of Khermansah was felt in many provinces of South Kurdistan and as far as the capital of Iraq, Baghdad.
It has been reported that at least two people have lost their life, while at least 230 have been wounded.
Electricity has been cut off in the villages of Ciwanro, Taze Abad and Binarê Daleho because of the tremors.
It is understood the number of casualties may rise.
