Kurdistan Workers’ Party released a statement after Jalal Talabani’s death saying that he will always be remembered in the struggle for Kurdistan.

PKK’s statement read as follows: “We are deeply saddened by the death of Mam Celal of the Kurds, leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Jalal Talabani.  We send our condolences to his family, his friends, to PUK organization and the people of Kurdistan.

“Since his youth, Mam Celal spent all his life for freedom and unity of Kurdish people. As he played a vital role in the liberation of Southern Kurdistan, he had significant contributions to Kurdistan’s struggle for freedom and democracy in all parts of the country. Mam Celal always had the idea and vision not to limit the politics and struggle with Southern Kurdistan. For this reason, he will always be remembered in the freedom struggle of the people of Kurdistan.

Mam Celal was an important friend of our leader Apo (Abdullah Ocalan) and our freedom movement. He remained a friend until his last breath. (...)”
