Man from Gever sentenced to prison for visiting relatives in Iran
The Iranian regime has sentenced Rahim Turgut, who went to Urmia in June to visit his relatives, to 5 years in prison.
The Iranian regime has sentenced Rahim Turgut, who went to Urmia in June to visit his relatives, to 5 years in prison.
A citizen named Rahim Turgut travelled from Gever (Yüksekova), Hakkari to the Urmia province of Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) in June to visit his relatives there. Rahim Turgut was detained by regime forces in the house of his relatives where he was a guest.
Turgut was held and questioned in the Iranian intelligence headquarters for four months and was referred to a court in Urmia recently. The Iranian regime put Rahim Turgut on trial in the Iranian 2nd Revolutionary Court and sentenced him to 5 years for "aiding and abetting the PKK".
Turgut has been placed in the Urmia Prison.
