A man by the name of Şefik Bağa was seriously wounded as result of fire opened by Iranian border guards early Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the man was shot while trying to cross the border from Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) into Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) in the village of Yukarı Çilli (Çiliya Jor), in Çaldıran district of Van.
The man was taken to Van Dursun Odabaş Hospital in a heavily wounded state and lost his life here despite the medical efforts made to save him.
Şefik Bağa is the father of 15-year-old Azat Bağa who had been critically wounded by border guards while grazing sheep in the Yukarı Çilli village on July 16.
The slain man will be laid to rest in his village today.
