Who would know how many young women and men of Kurdistan have lamented on the rocks of these mountains. Let the mountains tell the story of these heroes. Let the mountains speak. Even if one digs deep into the past, respects the thousands of heroes of the mountains and tells their stories one by one, it will never be enough. Each mountain has its own heroic story. These heroes who love their country and their land write their names in golden letters in the history of those mountains. Their lives are based on the principle of 'There will never be any other life but a free one’. They felt the conflict between light and darkness in their hearts. Greeting freedom and the sun at dawn was indispensable to them. They spent most of their lives among the rocks. They gave up many things. But even in the deepest moments of despair, those who had hope survived.
A guerrilla who fought in many parts of the country
We will tell the story of Comrade Xebat Hîmo, a guerrilla from Rojava who fought in many parts of the country and dedicated his life to the struggle for freedom. All prices paid for freedom are sacred. Each price adds a greater meaning to the struggle in the mountains of Kurdistan. Epics were written on those mountains. Each hero became an epic and left their names for the future. His heart was as pure as a child, as big as a vast sea, as strong as a mountain. Guerrilla Xebat Hîmo was born in the village of Hîmo in Qamişlo, a village that lost dozens of its precious sons and daughters in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle. He was the son of a country where hopes and dreams were forbidden. He realized this at a young age, so he embarked on a search. But he found himself in a tough battle to reach the right path.
He wanted to build a free life in the mountains
As guerrilla Xebat grew up, he started to hear the name of Rêber Apo (Leader Abdullah Öcalan) and the Kurdistan freedom struggle more and more. Since he grew up in a patriotic environment, he felt Rêber Apo and the freedom movement more deeply. The revolution in Rojava had a great impact and excitement on the guerrilla Xebat. He decided to join the guerrilla ranks in 2011 to get to know Rêber Apo's struggle and the freedom guerrillas better. Like every Kurdish youngster, he wanted to build a free life in the mountains. This showed how big and meaningful his journey was. Guerrilla Xebat grew his hope, joy and happiness among the sparks that soared into the sky.
Seeking to be worthy of his fallen brother and comrades
He received his first training in Garê and completed it successfully. Beloved among his comrades for his humble and selfless personality, comrade Xebat quickly adapted to the mountains and guerrilla life. He defined the guerrilla life as a rebirth and became integrated with this new life. After a while, he completed his practices in the Garê area and undertook duties in different parts of Kurdistan as a guerrilla fighter. At that time, Rojava was going through a difficult war. Hundreds of heroic sons and daughters of the Kurdish people were martyred in this revolutionary process. One of these heroes was the brother of guerrilla Xebat. He returned to the Garê area with the decision to be worthy of the memory of his brother and all his martyred comrades and to wage a stronger struggle for the freedom of the Kurdish people.
He upheld his comrades' legacy of resistance
Comradeship has always been the lifeblood of the PKK. Guerrilla Xebat was also a comrade who upheld his comrades' legacy of resistance and never left their weapons unclaimed. He was very strong both ideologically and organizationally. He passed on all his knowledge and experience to his comrades. His loyalty and belief in the party was very great. He would never compromise the line of the Leader. He moved forward with perspectives of freedom. He trained himself in every field he was in and became an exemplary Apoist militant. He acted with a sense of responsibility and believed that he had to take on more burden. For this reason, after a long period of practice in the Garê area, he moved to the Metina region for his new mission.
His love for his country gave meaning to his life
Guerrilla Xebat achieved successful practices in the Metina region with his hardworking and honest participation. However, he never considered himself sufficient and felt that he had to take on greater responsibilities. This would be through command, so he did not hesitate to fulfill his duty as a pioneer. He led his comrades in the region of Metîna. Every step he took with the dream of a free country caused storms in his heart. His love for his country gave meaning to his life. He swore an oath for a free country and a free society and he continued to fight for it. Only hearts full of courage can defeat the enemy. The fire of freedom burning in the heart of guerrilla Xebat struck fear into the enemy. But they were incapable of understanding this and they increased their attacks.
Guerrilla Xebat Hîmo fell a martyr along with his comrade Baxtiyar Dijwar (Serhat Tekin) in the Metina region on October 24, 2021 as a result of an attack by the Turkish state.
