On 17 August 2021, warplanes of the occupying Turkish state bombed Sikêniyê Hospital in Shengal four times. As a result of the bombing, health staff Ali Reşo Xidir, Sedo İlyas Reşo, Hecî Xidir and Muhlise Sîdar were martyred. Four YBŞ (Shengal Resistance Units) fighters named Hamid Sedun, Xidir Şeref, Rami El Salim and Maetem Xidir Xelef who were being treated in the hospital also lost their lives.
Şengal Health Committee made a statement on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of Sikêniyê Hospital massacre.
Members and employees of the Health Committee organised a commemoration event at the site of the massacre on Saturday.
Speaking here, Health Committee Member Fêsel Ali said: “The occupying Turkish state does not accept anything that is in the interest of the Yazidi community and continues all its efforts to destroy our infrastructure, especially health institutions. We will not give up rebuilding our health institutions to the extent of our means and offering them to the service of our Yazidi people.”
