The 15 August 1984 Initiative was celebrated at Martyr Rüstem Cudi (Maxmur) Refugee Camp. 

The camp has been under embargo for a month, since a MIT agent was killed in a restaurant in Hewler.

Thousands of people gathered at Maxmur Culture and Art Center to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the first armed attack carried out by the PKK.

Photos of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, guerrilla commander Mahsum Korkmaz (Agit), PKK founder Sakine Cansız (Sara), Mam Zekî were displayed in the celebration area.

Filiz Budak, co-chair of the Maxmur People's Assembly, made a brief statement at the celebration.

In 1984, PKK commander Mahsum Korkmaz (Agit) fired the first bullet against the occupying Turkish state.

As the Kurdish people woke up again, the armed guerrilla struggle started. Since 15 August, the struggle of the guerrilla and Kurdish people continues to grow. 

After the speech, groups Kevana Zêrîn, Tev-Chand, Koma Zagros, Bermal Çem and Edip took the stage.
