A memorial service was held for Yazidi Coordination Member Mam Zeki Shengali by his grave on the first anniversary of his martyrdom in the Turkish state airstrike against Shengal on August 15, 2018.

Yazidi women lighted candles by Mam Zeki Shengali’s grave as well as those who were martyred alongside him.

“VALUED BY YAZIDIS”

Women shared their feelings on Shengali.

Fehime Sileyman said: “We bow with respect by the memory of Mam Zeki and all the martyrs. Mam (Uncle) Zeki was Ezidxan’s Mam. His martyrdom hurt us deeply. I pray God will take him to his paradise.”

Mother of one martyred son Dijwar Mirad: “We remember all martyrs in the person of Mam Zeki. We offer our condolences for his family. We pray to God and Meleke Tawiz (Angel Peacock) to take him to paradise. Mam Zeki was a sacred and valued person for Yazidis. The enemy targeted him deliberately.”

Nafiye Meso: "We remember Mam Zeki and the martyrs of all 73 genocides, all the martyrs in the fight for freedom, and we bow with respect by their memory.”
