The mobile guerrilla units are an important part of the new era of guerrilla warfare. With their highly mobile tactics, the specialized units of up to three people inflicted heavy losses on the Turkish state in the Medya Defense Areas last year. Members of these units came together to celebrate Newroz. On the occasion of the resistance festival, HPG commander Agit Reşit spoke to the guerrillas from HPG and YJA Star and recalled the start of the apoistic Kurdish freedom movement Newroz in 1973 and the history of the fight that followed.

"We know that the enemy fears us"

Reşit said: “The line of apoism is the line of success. We know that now more than ever. We know the enemy fears us. He attacks us brutally and without any ethics. From now on, it should fear us even more. Here come the sacrificial apoist fighters. We are more modern and conscious than ever. We are close to Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan]. We will make Kurdistan the grave of the enemy. Following the line of the apoist struggle, we will make Newroz 2022 the Newroz of Rêber Apo's freedom. We cannot live without him.” The fighters then celebrated with dances around the Newroz fire and lit fireworks.
