The indefinite non-alternating hunger strikes in Hewler-Maxmur to break the isolation imposed upon Kurdish Peoples’ Leader Abdullah Ocalan have continued for months. The hunger strikes in Hewler have continued for 4 months, while the hunger strike in Maxmur has continued for 2.

HEWLER: The indefinite non-alternating hunger strike Nasir Yagiz is on has continued for 122 days, which comes to almost 3.000 hours. Yagiz’s health continues to deteriorate. His insomnia is particularly severe, and his body is more fatigued every day. Yagiz had been hospitalized on January 1 but had refused treatment.

As Yagiz continues his hunger strike in the HDP Hewler offices, the indefinite alternating hunger strike also continues. 61 groups have participated in the hunger strike in the last 122 days.

MAXMUR: Another indefinite non-alternating hunger strike continues in the Maxmur refugee camp. Ishtar Assembly Coordination Member Fadile Tok has been on a hunger strike for 62 days. Tok started her hunger strike on December 16.

The alternating hunger strike is on day 94 in Maxmur. 33 groups have participated so far. Hunger striker Ahmet Ozer spoke during the latest group taking over the hunger strike and said the hunger strike will break fascist attacks.

SULAYMANIYAH: The indefinite non-alternating hunger strike led by the Mesopotamia Workers’ Association in Sulaymaniyah is on day 99. The 50th group has taken over the hunger strike.

Tevgera Azadi’s Germiyan Regional Assembly Member Gulebax Celal has been on an indefinite non-alternating hunger strike for 5 days.

In the Tatan village of the Penciwen district, Fatma Ehmed has been on a hunger strike for a week, and Herem Mehmud’s hunger strike continues on day 28. Meanwhile Seyma Ednan is on day 20 of her month-long hunger strike.
