HPG and YJA Star guerrillas celebrated Newroz by lighting a fire in the Behdinan region of the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Dozens of guerrillas came together for the celebrations. Rojhat Muş, one of the guerrilla commanders, spoke about the meaning of Newroz. The commander emphasized that guerrillas displayed great heroic deeds in 2021, which marked the 2634th anniversary of Newroz.

Muş drew attention to the resistance of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, the people of Kurdistan and the guerrillas.  The guerrilla commander underlined that they welcomed 2022 with profound faith and determination.

After the speech, fighters danced around the fire. During the celebration, guerrillas Gelhat Berfin and Rûken Dersim wished success for the year 2022. HBDH guerrilla Fera Yeşilgöz also congratulated the peoples on Newroz.
