Celebrations to mark Kurdish New Year Newroz have begun in the Êzîdî town of Shengal in South Kurdistan territory. There will be celebrations with different activities every day in a different district in Shengal where no central celebration will be held.
The first Newroz fire was lit in Borık and Sinunê towns of Shengal. The widely attended Newroz celebration activities ended with cultural programs.
The 3-day long Newroz celebrations will continue in Digure and Serdeşt regions and on the day of the March 21, resistance of fighters in Kurdistan emplacements will be saluted with the Newroz spirit in a march with torches.
