In the North Kurdistan region which witnessed a high rate of participation in yesterday's referendum on constitutional amendments, 'No' prevailed in all the cities and districts where municipalities were usurped by the government through trustees.

A record rate of 'No' came out of the ballot boxes in the metropolitan cities of Amed, Van and Mardin and other cities Batman, Ağrı, Hakkari, Şırnak, Siirt and Dersim where municipalities were seized by trustees and elected Kurdish politicians were imprisoned. 'No' votes were far ahead in 10 cities and 64 districts with usurped municipalities in North Kurdistan.

Unofficial results of 'No' votes in Kurdish cities and towns where Democratic Regions' Party (DBP) won 2014's local elections are as follows:

67,58 % in Amed which had 55,07 % votes in 2014's local elections

59,04 % in Mardin which had 52,19 % votes in 2014's local elections

57,20 % in Van which had 53,14 % votes in 2014's local elections.

'No' votes also prevailed in the provinces of Şırnak, Ağrı, Hakkâri, Dersim, Siirt and Batman whose municipalities were also usurped by the AKPK regime through an appointment of trustees. Rates of 'No' votes in these cities are as follows:

63,62 % in Batman

52,07 % in Siirt

71,67 % in Şırnak

67,57 % in Hakkari

56,82 % in Ağrı

80,42 % in Dersim

Another Kurdish city, Bitlis with an usurped municipality had a 40,64 % 'No' vote.
