MIGRATION FROM RAQQA TO KOBANÊ AND MABROUKA CONTINUES

Civilians continue to migrate to Rojava’s Cizir, Kobané, and Efrin cantons from Raqqa, which has been occupied by ISIS gangs since 2014. These civilians state that they had to escape the cruelty, oppression and plunder of the gangs.

Rojava cantons have long been under a heavy embargo and the attacks of the gangs, but continue to receive refugees from other parts of Syria. The main reason for this migration is that security and peace provided by the SDF and YPG/YPJ. Another reason is that the peoples of Syria see the SDF and YPG/YPJ as their representatives.

Refugees from Raqqa in Kobané and Mabrouka say that they want the SDF to liberate everywhere from ISIS gangs, and express their content at the launching of the operation to liberate North Raqqa. The refugees say that SDF is the only force to end ISIS oppression in their lands, and emphasize that they only view the SDF as the defense force that represents the peoples of Syria.
