A related press statement read by Military Council Official Ebu Emced said that; “Since the town of Manbij and its villages were abandoned by so-called “revolutionary” armed groups on January 22, 2014, our people have suffered from ISIS atrocity and every kind of repression, cruelty and violence under occupation. During the course of this process, the people of Syria and the whole world have witnessed the enduring resistance mounted by the children, youths and fighters of Manbij in the regions of Qereqozaq, Sirîn and Tishrîn Dam. On the other hand, our people living in the city have never agreed to surrender to the ISIS' attempts to break their will and seize their control. This resisting city didn't hesitate to sacrifice some 2 thousand competent and courageous youths of its. The city of Manbij feels the honour of being the first city across Syria where marches and protest demos were staged against the ISIS butchers.”
The statement underlined that it was now high time to end the ISIS occupation and clear the lands of Manbij of this dirt, for which cause the “Operation to Save and Liberate Manbij” has been initiated as of June 1, 2016 upon the call of locals and opinion leaders. "Our fighters have promised and sworn to continue this operation with the highest commitment until every occupied inch of these lands is liberated."
Manbij Military Council called upon the locals of Manbij to take the precautions to assure the people's security of life, stand clear of the gangs' positions and headquarters that will be open military targets of the operation, and provide convenience and support their forces. The Council also called on the young men and women of Manbij to join their ranks, fight ISIS and fulfill the duty of liberating Manbij.
The statement pointed out that Manbij Military Council consisted of Arab, Kurdish, Turkmen and Circassian combatants who will be targeting the ISIS gangs and all those who have the blood of Manbij people on their hands. The Council added that the city of Manbij will be handed over to the Manbij Regional Assembly, which is a civilian structure comprised of Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen and Circassians, once liberated.
