In Southern Kurdistan 3,085,416 eligible voters in 240 places are called for election today. The polling stations have 42,170 campaign workers.
The election consists of 29 lists, parties and coalitions with 773 candidates to fill the 111 seats in the Southern Kurdish parliament. Of the 773 candidates, 241 are women and 532 are men. The polling stations contain national and international observers.
The Independent High Electoral Commission said it would announce the election results within 72 hours. Voting takes place between 8 am and 6 pm.
