Political parties in South Kurdistan held a joint press statement in Hewlêr and criticized the AKP policies targeting Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) parliamentarians. Representatives from Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Change Movement (Tevgera Goran), Kurdistan Islamic Union (Komela İslami Kurdistan), Kurdistan Laborers Party (Hizbi Zahmetkeşani Kurdistan, Kurdistan Future Party (Hizbi Ayindei Kurdistan), Kurdistan Free Society Movement (Tevgera Civaka Azadi ya Kurdistan), Iran Kurdistan Democratic Party (İ-KDP) and non-governmental organization participated in the press conference organized by the Kurdistan National Congress (KNC).

KNC: WAR AND OPPRESSION WILL NOT SOLVE THE KURDISH ISSUE

KNC member Cemal Kemalizade emphasized that attacks on the HDP are also attacks on political parties in South Kurdistan, and called upon international courts to condemn the lifting of HDP parliamentarians’ immunities in Turkey. Kemalizade recalled that war and oppression will not solve the Kurdish issue, and called upon all political parties to support the HDP in the face of chauvinism.

PARLIAMENTO PRESIDENT: COEXISTENCE IS THE ONLY SOLUTION

In a message read by Goran Movement parliamentarian Adil Aziz, the president of Kurdistan Regional Parliament Dr. Yusuf Muhammed said that the lifting of immunities would not stop the resistance of Kurdish people, and invited Turkey and the PKK back to the negotiation table since coexistence is the only solution to the current situation.

PUK: ALL OF KURDISTAN SHOULD SUPPORT THE HDP

PUK parliamentarian Bêgert Talabani condemned the lifting of HDP parliamentarians’ immunities and said that his party would continue to support the HDP Talabani called upon all of Kurdistan to support the HDP and said that the AKP’s decision would not intimidate the people of North Kurdistan.

GORAN MOVEMENT: WE WILL SUPPORT NORTH KURDISTAN

Goran Movement parliamentarian Birzo Mecîd stated that the lifting of HDP parliamentarians’ immunities would create more war and violence, and the Goran movement would support the resistance of North Kurdistan.

KIU: WAR AND CONFLICT DO NOT SERVE PEACE

Kurdistan Islam Union official Şîwan Raber stated that war and conflict do not serve peace, and called upon the Turkish state and the PKK to go back to the negotiation table.

İ-KDP: BLOW AGAINST DEMOCRACY

Sidiq Derwiş spoke on behalf of the Iran Kurdistan Democratic Party and described the lifting of HDP parliamentarians’ immunities as a blow against democracy.

KLP: ERDOĞAN’S FATE WILL BE LIKE THE LEADERS OF IRAQ, LIBYA AND SYRIA

Kurdistan Laborers Party representative Dr Hiwa Seyid Selim said that the AKP’s policy was an attack on free life and Erdoğan’s fate would be like the leaders of Iraq, Libya and Syria.

FREE SOCIETY MOVEMENT: WE WILL SUPPORT EVERY UPRISING IN NORTH KURDISTAN

Tara Hüseyin spoke on behalf of the Kurdistan Free Society Movement and said that the lifting of HDP parliamentarians’ immunities did not only target the HDP but also all Kurdish people. Hüseyin emphasized that they would support every uprising in North Kurdistan that has the perspective of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

HDP REPRESENTATIVE: ERDOĞAN WILL LOSE

Lastly, HDP’s Kurdistan Region representative Şilan Eminoğlu thanked all of the political parties and NGOs for their support to the HDP, and said that Erdoğan would lose against the Kurdish Freedom Movement because of the resistance of Kurdish people. Eminoğlu called upon all Kurdish people to come together against AKP fascism in North Kurdistan.
