People in Shengal march against Baghdad-Hewler agreement

People in Shengal organized a mass march to protest the agreement between Hewler and Baghdad on their land.

Yazidi Kurds have been organizing actions for days to protest the agreement signed between the Iraqi central government and the South Kurdistan administration on Shengal on 9 October.

Reactions to the agreement are growing and the Yazidis living in Shengal came together once again in the district center this morning to join a crowded march.

Hundreds of people joined the march, which started with the slogan "We are all Asayish" (Em hemî Asayîşin), in reference to the local Public Defense Forces.

During the march, the crowd frequently chanted "Bijî berxwedana Şengalê", "Bijî berxwedana Asayîşê".

The march set off from the center of Shengal and ended in the Êzidîxan Central Asayishi.

The activists are expected to make a statement in front of Asayiş.
