The people’s march to Qandil was organized by the People’s Initiative Against Turkish State Invasion Attacks.
Thousands of people who set out from various centers throughout Southern Kurdistan reached Qandil this morning.
Protesters come mainly from Duhoq, Hewlêr, Suleymaniye, Kirkuk, Germiyan, Raperîn, Sharezgor, Qifri, Xurmatu, Chemchemal and Ranya.
Thousands of people gathered in the last meeting point in Ranya and marched to Qandil en masse from there.
There is a human shield action that started on June 8 in Qandil against the Turkish state’s invasion attacks. The large crowd coming in from Ranya was greeted by these activists.
The crowd attended the Friday prayers at a nearby mosque. Melé Saman Sengavi read the Friday sermon and said, “We are here to stand with our youth who put their bodies against the invasion, and to respond to the call of our religion to never remain silent in the face of tyranny.
Sengavi said Erdoğan targets all values of the Kurdish people and that they keep violently bombing. “They target our mosques, cemeteries, houses and our values in life as a whole. This has nothing to do with Islam.”
Sengavi called for resistance against the invasion and said, “All circles, politicians, writers, intellectuals, religious scholars, all our people must reach out to the consulates of their countries of residence, whoever they can get a hold of, and talk to them about the rightful resistance of this people, and take action against invasion.
The crowd will hold a press conference in Qandil and visit the Mehmet Karasungur Martyrs’ Cemetery.
The youth coming from Northern Syria was stopped at the Semelka Border Gate. The youth attempted to cross the bridge when they weren’t allowed through and many security personnel were mobilized against them. There was some tension at the border due to the prevention.
