Led by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Amed (Diyarbakır) Provincial Organisation, a convoy of vehicles was formed to protest against the unlawful replacement of Abdullah Zeydan, who was elected as Co-Mayor of Van Metropolitan Municipality in 31 March elections, with the AKP candidate.
The convoy of hundreds of vehicles travelled around the city and Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Doğan Hatun and Serra Bucak also participated in the demonstration.
Those in the convoy were supported by the people around with victory signs, accompanied by slogans such as "Bijî berxwedana Wanê" (Long live the resistance of Van), "We will win by resisting" and "Abdullah Zeydan is our honour"
Hundreds of people blocked Ekinciler Street in Ofis neighbourhood to traffic, chanting the slogan "Amed, don't sleep, protect your will".
