People of Maxmur protest the Turkish attack in Sulaymaniyah

The occupying Turkish state attacked Sulaymaniyah International Airport in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on 7 April 2023.

Residents of the Martyr Rüstem Refugee Camp in the Maxmur town of southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) made a press statement in protest at Friday’s Turkish drone attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport.

After a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of Kurdistan, the press statement was read out by Mustafa Ergen, who stated:

“When we look at the attacks carried out in four parts of Kurdistan, we see the fact that Kurdish pioneers who fight for humanity and put their lives on the line are targeted. The latest attack in Sulaymaniyah was directed against a pioneer of the Kurdish people in Rojava after a meeting with PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) officials. The fascist AKP-MHP regime and traitors within the Kurds target personalities who make the voice of the Kurds heard and advocate for the honor of humanity. As residents of the Maxmur Camp, we call on public opinion to fulfil their humanitarian responsibilities.”
