People of Qandil demand freedom for Öcalan

The people of Binarê Qendil took to the streets and demanded freedom for Öcalan at the 19th anniversary of the international plot that started with his forced departure from Syria.

The people of Binarê Qandil carried out a mass rally in protest at the October 9 international plot against Abdullah Öcalan and the forces involved.

The march was well-attended and the many participating women and children caught the eye. Demonstrators unfurled pictures of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and posters condemning the international plot.

The march that kicked off in front of the Binarê Qandil Municipality turned into a mass rally in the village ofZergelê, which had been hit by fighter jets of the Turkish army in 2005 that claimed the lives of nine civilians.

A press statement made here by Tevgera Azadi of Binarê Qandil condemned the forces involved in the international plot and the isolation of the Kurdish leader that has been aggravated by the Turkish state for the past two years as he is denied meeting and contact with his lawyers, family and political delegations.

Describing the international plot as an attempt to break the will of the Kurdish people, the statement urged the Kurdish people to stand by Öcalan and go into action for his freedom, also calling on all Kurdish organisations to take responsibility to frustrate the threat and plots against Kurdistan.

Another statement by the Youth and Young Women of Qandil called for the establishment of Kurdish national unity, and urged all the Kurds to take to the streets for the freedom of the Kurdish leader.
