People of Sinê protest the Iranian regime

People of Sinê took to the streets on Thursday to protest the killing of two kolbers (border porters) by Iranian regime forces in Banê.

Protest demonstrations continued for the fourth day across Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) following the killing of Kurdish kolbers [Kurdish word for porter in border region] Heyder Ferecî (21) and Qadir Behramî (41) by Iranian regime forces in Banê town of Sinê province on September 4.

Thousands gathered at the Îqbal (Azadî) Square of Sinê on Thursday evening, facing obstruction and intervention of Iranian regime forces who attacked the mass, leaving several demonstrators injured and 8 others in custody.

More people gathered at the square following the crackdown and a large number of soldiers and intelligence members were dispatched to Sinê where internet service is still interrupted.

Regime forces are trying to block the roads leading to the square with armored vehicles, reports say.

In the meantime, political activists in Sinê released a statement calling for the immediate release of the detained demonstrators, and access to treatment for those injured.
