PKK announces the death of Salih Cizîr

Salih Cizîr (Hasan Adir) died a year ago in a Turkish drone attack in Maxmur. The Kurdish revolutionary had joined the PKK in Germany in 1991 and spent years in prison.

The PKK Committee of Solidarity with the Families of Martyrs has announced the death of Salih Cizîr. Salih Cizîr's real name was Hasan Adir and he died in a Turkish drone attack in Maxmur Camp in Southern Kurdistan on 5 June 2021. The PKK called Salih Cizîr a worthy representative of the ancient culture of Botan and expressed its condolences to his family and the Kurdish people.

The PKK Committee stated that Salih Cizîr was born in the Cizre district of Şırnak in 1962. He trained as a carpenter and opened his own workshop in the town of his birth. The father of four children had been in close contact with the Kurdish liberation movement since 1986. His brother Çekdar, who later died, joined the PKK in the same year. Salih Cizîr became active in the Kurdish movement in 1988 and was arrested in June because a defector had testified against him. After a year in prison, he continued his political work and was instrumental in the popular uprisings in 1990. At Newroz he was arrested again and severely tortured. In 1991, he left Turkey and moved to Germany.

After that, he was active in various fields of work in Europe for a long time. Due to his successful work, he was arrested twice in Germany and spent about five years in prison. Most recently, he was involved in the KOMAW association, which brings together relatives of missing and fallen members of the Kurdish liberation movement. He finally returned to Kurdistan in 2015.

In 2016, he took part in an educational programme at the PKK Academy named after Sakine Cansiz in the Kurdish mountains. He then went to Maxmur and continued his revolutionary work with great determination until his death in June 2021.
