Police forces raided the municipality of Mardin's Savur district and blocked the entry and exit points in the building this morning. During the same hours, police detained seven people including district co-mayor Mehmet Aydın Alökmen as result of house raids. While two other people are reportedly sought in the scope of the same operation as they were not found home during raids, the detainees were taken to police department for interrogation.

It grabbed attention that police hanged a huge Turkish flag on the municipality building with joy during the raid.
