Bombings and military dispatching continues in Şırnak where the popular resistance against the state’s genocidal attacks has reached day 22. Heavy clashes erupted between state forces trying to enter İsmetpaşa, Dicle, Cumhuriyet and Gazipaşa neighborhoods and YPS/YPS-JIN forces today in the district that was hit by artillery and howitzers all day yesterday. Several ambulances were dispatched to the clash areas but no information could be reached on the number of people dead or wounded.
The clashes were quieter in the evening hours but state forces raked the neighborhoods throughout the night as they were retreating in the face of the resistance.
Turkish UAV’s could be seen patrolling the city from above and there was significant helicopter activity.
Artillery and howitzer fire started again before dawn, focusing mainly on Yenimahalle, Dicle, Cumhuriyet and İsmetpaşa neighborhoods, as a result of which several houses caught on fire. The self-rule neighborhoods are under intense howitzer and artillery fire. Clashes can be heard from the neighborhoods.
As the military dispatching to the city continues, a convoy of more than 30 armored vehicles entered the 23rd Gendarmerie Border Division Command yesterday in the night hours.
