PUK parliamentarian survives armed attack in Hamrin

PUK MP Mele Kerim Şükür survived an armed attack without injuries on Thursday.

Mele Kerim Şükür, a member of the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) group in the Parliament of Iraq, was targeted by an armed attack on Thursday.

The attack took place in a building in the northern town of Hamrin. The politician survived the attack without injuries, according to local PUK officials.

RojNews agency reported that a Kurdish citizen close to the Hashd al-Shaabi militia argued with officials after entering the building where the armed attack took place, and opened random fire around after the argument.

The assailant could be taken under control and dispossessed of his arm.
