Reconstruction work on Qereqozax bridge has started after it was torn down by ISIS last year following the advance of YPG-YPJ.
The bridge came under YPG-YPJ fighters’ control during the operations to liberate Kobanê and surroundings from ISIS and it lies on a strategic spot connecting Kobanê and the Manbij area from the south. Reconstruction work has started on the bridge in Qereqozax village in Sirrin.
The bridge was torn down by ISIS in 2015 and the leg on the Manbij side was liberated during the maneuver launched on June 1. Reconstruction work began after the area was secured.
The construction work is expected to be completed very soon. Construction equipment and trucks work around the clocks. SDF fighter Mustafa Kobane spoke to the ANF about the reconstruction efforts and the importance of the area.
Mustafa Kobane stressed that the swift reconstruction of the bridge will help complete the ongoing Abu Layla operation sooner and said the reconstruction will have great effect in ridding the ISIS gangs of all of northern Syria.
