Yesterday the district governorate announced that the “curfew” that started in Şırnak’s İdil district on February 16 was lifted for the morning and would now include only hours between 21.30 and 04.30. People wanting to return after the announcement were not let through.
İdil residents wanting to enter the district via Cizre and Midyat roads were stopped at the check points set up in the district’s entrances.
The state forces were reported to tell the protesting crowd that they “can’t enter the district via these two roads, get in however else you want.”
Reports say hundreds of vehicles are lined up on both Cizre and Midyat roads and thousands of İdil residents are waiting to return to their homes.
