The village of Talatê in Mardin's Nusaybin district remains under a siege and aggression by state forces for five days now.
Youth Mecit Gündüz, who was taken into custody on February 21, the first day of the siege, and was later released, told that village headman Mahmut Uzun, residents Abdurrahman Ülker and Xerbi -whose surname is not identified-were detained by state forces by torture alongside him. The whereabouts of these three residents remains unknown since their detention.
Gündüz told the followings as to what they have been through: "I did not know about the curfew. Me and Abdurrahman Ülker were taken into custody by soldiers while on our way to another neighborhood in the village. They took us to an empty field where there was nobody. Abdurrahman, village headman Mahmut and a resident by the name of Xerbi were severely tortured there. They beat me as well, but the other three were tortured the most. I was released after torture due to my young age but Uzun, Ülker and Xerbi were kept in custody. We will never forget this savage torture and will definitively call those responsible to account.”
